National Marriage Week Challenge: Day 5 (2-11-2014)

Do more than endure! Enjoy!

Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. (Ecclesiastes 9:9).

Enjoy life!  With your wife!

Feelings of love are strong, most often, while dating and for the first couple of years of marriage.  At least some honeymoon stages can last that long.  Finding new and exciting activity is pretty easy during these time and your brain frequently releases dopamine that keeps the feelings of love strong.  During this time, God plans for you to develop a stronger, more reliable love.  This love is not based on feelings, it is based on your choice.

God still has a plan for feelings of love, though.  He still wants you to enjoy your spouse.  The way he created us, though, calls for us to be creative in the ways those feelings are built and sustained.  We have to be creative about the ways we engage in new activities.

The Day 5 Challenge is to Check out the Recreational Inventory developed by William Harley on the Marriage Builders website.  Print it out and set up a cozy time for you and your spouse to fill it out together and make a plan for the first date you’ll take to engage together in one of the activities.

Enjoy.  Let us know what you scored highest as a couple!
